3.0 and 3.7 are huge differences |

I work with a brilliant young woman, two years out of Berkeley. She was a top 15 in her HS class, but did not graduate with a big GPA (3.2). I happen to think that the difference between a 3.0 and 3.7 are marginal, because of all those factors I listed in my previous post. I just want 3.0 or better, which I don't think is unreasonable, do you? |

3.7 is an A- to A
between those two is the big fat B+
the difference if huge if you consider that if the average is 3.3 and the standard deviation is about .4, then the 3.0 is about 40th percentile, and the 3.7 is about 70th percentile. roughly speaking.
but i do agree that life offers many second chances and you can always mess up a good history (see unabomber) and clean up a bad history. people have short term memories and will focus on recent history. just look at the stock market.
