In Reply To: As some other recruiters have echoed. Don't call when the ad says not to. Especially when the market is as tight as it is, we are inundated with resumes as it is. Every recruiter responds differently to the resumes, but in our team we make it a point to respond to everyone who sends their resume acknowledging receipt. We are not clueless about individual's resumes but we are also under time deadlines and it is very frustrating when people ingnore an obvious process to gain some foothold. When people call me anyway, I tend to remind them of the process the ad already states and they have no leg up on other candidates. We are not trying to be evasive or even mean, we are merely trying to weed through resumes and find the best candidates for the job. Also, if you attempt to call an area where you might be working in, you might get a team leader or manager who doesn't understand the hiring process, i.e. why HR is in existence in the first place.

Yes; but you WILL be talking to someone who understands wht the job entails and what skills are actually important rather than just having in incompehensible list of buzzwords to check off; which is wht HR and "the hiring process" are so incompetent at finding good people. They're not looking for good people. They're looking for a good buzzword list.
