In Reply To: I concur with your assertions. Another issue to consider is the rampant use of scanning resumes. How do I know that my resume has been tossed because I lacked a key word or functional area word? How do I know what key words to put on the resume? HR is like an attorney. They know a lot about what they do but use their knowledge to break deals that they think is not a fit for them. This is a problem and I speak from an Executive VP stand point with many years of experience. I to have often wondered who was missed because of some bad misrepresentation by HR. By the way, I enjoyed phone calls from candidates who wanted to work for me. It really excited me that someone with enough courage would call me and pitch me for the job that was open. In today's market you have to be both assertive and aggressive in order to get anywhere in business today.

How does the meek little guy who just does what's asked of him and does it very, very well get employed? I don't want to "get ahead in business" I want other people to give me their problems so that I can solve them. That's my job, that's what I do as an analyst programmer. It's all I've ever really wanted to do and I am very, very good at it.
