I've been looking for a new position since my contract ended in November. I'm a technical writer, BTW, if anyone needs one. I can't tell you how many positions I've sent my resume in for, where I don't even get an auto-acknowledge. I've called a few positions, where I see them posted for several weeks, and found that the HR person has never seen my resume. I have to wonder if they take the first 50 resumes or so, and delete the rest, or what.
Sending a resume in via email, with no contact info to follow up, is very risky and frustrating.
Another gripe (since I has so much time on my hands) is going on two or three interviews for a position, then not hearing a word about the outcome. Seems to me, professional courtesy calls for some sort of feedback to any candidate who came in for an interview. |
