In Reply To: If you got an in-person interview within the last week, tell us how you got it. Now that would be positive and productive.
Message: This story begins with me finding a job posting online for a position that I am PERFECTLY qualified for. To clarify, not only is the company in the same industry as my job experience, but the job description seemed to be based on my resume! So, I figured "this is no sweat" and applied for the position as the posting specified. One week - nothing. I resent my resume in case it got lost (yeah right!) Two weeks still nothing, so I decided that applying for jobs out of the blue is a total waste of my time. I decided to use all other avenues to get the interview and in the following order here is what I did. 1. Talked to a friend's friend who used to work their and she gave me a phone num. of her ex-boss who works in a different part of the company but he said that he'll put my resume on the right person's desk. 2. Talked another friend's, friend whose father is a big wig there and she called him asking to help me. He said that he would mention my name but didn't ask for my resume. :) 3. Talked to my ex-boss who knows bosses of that company and asked him to recommended my for the job. 4. And finally, I talked to an ex-coworker who used to work at that company and recommended me to (if i get this position) my boss's boss's boss. That guy didn't ask for my resume but said that he'll help. SOooooooo, after calling in, what seems like, a million favors THE HR GOT BACK TO ME and said that they would love to interview, but can I please send them my resume!!! GO FIGURE
