5.Exploit Employee Referral Programs! Employees get bonuses (sometimes hefty ones) for referring new employees. See if you can connect with anybody who works at your target company, and ask them to circulate your resume for you. It does not have to be a big shot or in the dept. you want to work in - any internally referred resume gets more attention than a cold one. The recruiter and manager for the position you want will be obligated to review your resume and maybe even do a phone interview as a courtesy to the employee.
6. Get out of your sweats, put the channel changer down, step away from the TV and get out there! Talk to people. Metwork

8.Remember the "Rinse, lather, repeat" concept. Keep doing it over and over and over until you succeed.

1. Call an old supervisor or manager or former colleague. Let them know you are looking. Ask for suggestions - send him/her your resume to circulate.
2. Schmooze a receptionist. Get some names. Ask if you can talk to someone in shipping/receiving or accounts payable. Chat this person up, ask questions about the company, tell them you're looking for a job. Ask if they'd circulate your resume for you. Nobody fun every calls these people. Have fun with it. Chances are they've been unemployed themselves and understand. And if you get hired, they'll probably get a bonus.
3. Contact your alumni assoc. Find out when the next local chapter event is. Put on calendar and go!
4. Volunteer your services in the charitable org. of your choice. Talk to people.
5. Go buy some pretty, crunchy good quality stationery. Send 5 resumes to companies you really want to work for - via snail mail. (this is how Starbucks girl got the job!)
