if what you want to do is make a political statement, and that is your main agenda, go ahead and do what you want with your hair or any other aspect of your grooming.
I would suggest that if your life would be miserable and you feel you would be living a lie to accommodate your personal grooming preferences to the culture of a corporation, I suggest you do something else. Start your own company - work in an environment where your personal style is the norm, not a deviation.
Is this about style, politics or getting a job? I'm confused by the question. |

Your recruiter will never tell you the real reason behind your not receiving an offer, but rest assured that if your hairstyle/dress implies an agenda that is anything other than "Help the company make money", the real reason will be "Not a good fit".
If you want to look like a rock star or make a fashion/political statement, you should consider the Entertainment industry. You _will_ receive flack in button-down corporate environments. For some reason I think you already realize this.
