CeCe, how are you presenting yourself on paper, namely your resume? Is it accurately touting your skills, experience and academic achievements? Is it error-free?
My concern is that if you're not getting called back, it could be that you're not "selling" yourself well. What is it about employers that they are looking at your resume and then deciding that you're not the right one?
Make sure you look good on paper. Even though you have a job in retail, you are getting valuable experience in customer relations (conflict management, PR), accounts payable and receivable, using a cash register, cash handling experience, settling accounts (account reconciliation)and perhaps much more. "Elaborate and embellish" while being truthful.
