Has anyone on here, including the editors of this, read "What Color is Your Parachute?"
It really makes sense to me anyway. I've never ever gotten a job through sending a resume, or by working through an HR department.
I've always gotten jobs through networking and bypassing HR. I actually don't know why companies have HR departments. If you think about what they do, the people who hire never have a chance to see creative or unusual candidates who might make the best employees because they are screened out by a subjective process (HR will claim "scientific".
But anyway, if you haven't read that book it's an eye opener. If you're a conformist, you probably won't like it. But it's worked for me a lot.
A resume blast might work if you are a computer technical specialist. You could be a chimpanzee, but if you can fix a network or do a web site, the world is your oyster.
