Imagine my surprise today when I drove 50 miles to Job Finders International in Santa Ana CA for what I thought was an interview with a Recruiter only to discover that they are a "Marketing" firm that expects the Candidate to pay them a fee up front for "Career Counseling". Anybody have any experience with these Marketing firms disguising themselves as Recruiters? |

Dear Friend:
I went through the same experience last September with a paid headhunter. For one, they do not guarantee a job. Secondly, they tell you whatever negative issues they find with your work experience. Mine was that I should be making $100k plus as an MBA. Why accept $70k?
So, I would suggest you try your local chapter of 40 Plus. I just joined at a fraction of the cost that I would have spent going to the unguaranteed paid headhunter. I am much happier knowing that I still have control over my jobsearch.
So, beware and maintain your common sense when searching for your next job.
Good luck!
