In Reply To: Many of the jobs I have seen listed on job sites say "No calls please." I was told by someone at my college's career center NOT to call in those cases, but a friend of mine says she calls anyway. I would like to call since I hardly hear back from any of the places I apply to. What do you think? Would calling despite this adage show interest and initiative and help get my resume noticed, or will it just annoy prospective employers?
Message: When they say NO CALLs they mean it. I know. Like your friend I called to follow up after a few days with the recruiter who was involved with the placement of said job opportunity. In one case I was told "I do not have time for you". Folks, in today's candidate rich environment the only way to follow through in my opinion is to do some covert work behind the scenes. Find out who is hiring, and who the hiring manager is. That is who you contact.
