I have just graduated from a community college an associates degess in Computer Programming and an AAS in Information Systems. My problem is that I don't know what kind of job to apply for. I am a middle age person changing careers now and have always loved computers, so I decided to get an education in the computer industry. I just don't know what kinds of jobs to apply for because of all my skills. I have beginning skills in networking, programming, Web page building, databases, Quickbooks, excel, word, powerpoint, publishing, repaiting computers and many other computer skills. When I look on the job sites though, I get confussed about what jobs that I would qualify for. Does anyone have any suggestions? |

well, you mentioned that you loved computers. you should ask yourself exactly what about computers did you like? i was always curious about how computer games worked, so eventually i went into software development. a friend of mine, was more interested in buying the latest and greatest hardware, installing it himself, and playing the latest game. he eventually went into networking, etc... other people i know were more interested in just using the software (ie. excel, lotus, etc...). maybe you get your kicks from finding bugs (er... "features") in software, then maybe you'll want to go into quality assurance. maybe you've always been curious about how websites work?
what you choose, will depend largely on exactly what aspect about computers makes you interested.
