Hello everyone. I'm sending resumes out to companies and trying to avoid sending them into the HR black hole by sending them directly to the hiring manager. If the company's receptionist will not give out the name of the hiring manager, does anyone have any other ideas for getting the name? Also, is it better to call the hiring manager first or just send the resume in the mail? Thanks in advance. |

Be careful trying to aviod HR. In my company people who blatently try to aviod the staffing process are excluded. We have many ways to get in - the most effective being applications through our website for specific openings. Another is the employee referral program. If people send unsolicited resumes for unopen jobs, that is not HR's fault if you don't get anything. That is why we list our openings on the web . . . so people can apply for jobs that we have open. Then we can properly respond to qualified candidates.
Granted, not all companies are like mine, but more and more with our wonderful government regulations companies are enacting similar rules.
