I have a question about verifying job titles.
What should a person do if s/he wears many hats? For example, I was a receptionist while I did marketing assistant work a few years ago . Actually, I made ALL of the marketing. I told HR, and they said that they would verify that I was a marketing assistant, but I don't think they put it in their computer, and different people are working in HR now. I don't want anyone to think that I am lying if they verify my employment. How should I handle this with HR, so they can provide an accurate verification? |

Many of us have worn many hats, so your situation is not uncommon. In fact, many people have an official title that matches neither their duties nor the title on their business cards.
Your job title will grab their attention, but your accomplishments are what will get you the interview. If your accomplishments are impressive, the job title will become irrelevant. So, use marketing assistant to grab their attention, and good luck.
