When you get back to NY, look up the 5 O'Clock Club. They bill themselves as "America's Premier Career Counseling Network." Their website is http://www.fiveoclockclub.com
The group has weekly meetings (which do require a fee over the low membership fee) which provide both peer-to-peer networking and career advice and feedback from professional career counselors. People come from all industries, and finance is well represented. They also have a variety of literature, including a set of books which address many job hunting issues, including how to handle appearing overqualified.

Does anyone know of an equivalent career networking group in the Los Angeles area (hopefully also with a strong financial services representation)?
