Why this answer is really simple. It means that you can do the job standing on your head and they fear two things. Either A. They're afraid you'll have their job in no time or B. They're afraid that you will be sick of your job in 6 months and that you will no doubt jump at another opportunity outside of the company and quit. Another thing sneaking in there is..... You're too Old. Headhunter's only do one thing... they provide the LINK between you and the hiring authority. Do the same thing yourself. Get a network contact to the boss and say so and so recommended I speak to you.... why should they pay a Headhunter 30% when you just did it for free?? |

I Agree mostly. But have also seen people turned out with the lame "overqualified" excuse when the underlying factor was more subtle. Lets say the candidate is very well spoken, great vocabulary, well presented in otehr words. And the hiring authority is not. You see its a challend to the authority's image that is really feared: something visceral that they can't find a politically correct term for. Maybe the candidate expresses a vision of the future and the authority has none: scary. And so on. You'll have to analyse your own situation to adapt.
