In Reply To: Hey Yaz, Glad to see you are out there interviewing (that was quick). My first questions are - is this three interviews with one employer or three separate incidents. Also, who is giving you this feedback, the recruiters or the hiring company? If it's the recruiter you can challenge the issue in a professional manner and get more specifics. I met with a recruiter the other day who told me that, in the current hiring situation, many employers believe there are a lot of people out there looking and, if they wait long enough, they get someone who meets all their requirements perfectly. This viewpoint may be contributing to your kind of issue. As regards your being overqualified, what do you think the appropriate level of business experience was based on the description? If you had more, would you really have wanted the job? Just think it over.
Message: Zuri, Your message was though provoking and made me examine a few things. In response to your question, it was three separate incidents. The last being around late August. The feedback is from the recruiters and not from the hiring companies, which gives me some pause. I feel that I give it my best and it is either not good enough or there is a disconnect between what the hiring company wants and what I bring to the table (something you point out). Clearly it is a buyers market for talent and being 45-y.o. worries me (compaies can get 20-somethings and 30-somethings for a lower proce). To your comment regarding being overqualified, part of it is a polite way of saying that you may want too much money another part may be them saying you are too old. Thanks for the insights - Yaz
