Dress like you WANT the job! (Who can blame you) |

I work in a company where my department (IT) is casual all the time, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to ding an interviewee who doesn't dress like he wants the job. I do not count it against an interviewee if he/she is dressed in regular business attire. After all, that is the "norm" for interviewing. I do, however, take points off for interviewees who are dressed too casually, even if everyone else in the department is wearing jeans. (The only exception to this might be a lunchtime interview where the prospect has come from his current job and dress there is casual.) You have to dress like you WANT the job.
...instead of a suit, you can wear slacks, a sportcoat and a tie if you want. ....and if they hold THAT against you, this might not be the kind of place where you want to work anyway.
