In Reply To: If your resume is good enough to sand out among 100 others, than ignore my advice. Otherwise, call. Think about it, even if you are Harvard MBA, then you are probably competing against other Harvard MBAs and your resume will not stand out anyway. TO send a resume and not follow up is about the dumbest thing you could ever do. They probably will not call you back anyway, so call them. Always get past the resume screener, they are not in a position to make hiring decisions anyway. Find out who is hiring and call them even if they are several levels above the person who is listed as the contact name.
Message: The answer here depends on the size of the company. However, in large - I mean International - companies, the department hiring may not have the authority to deal with new candidates, except through Human Resources. However, they do have veto power on hires!!! Annoy them by being pushy and they'll make sure they don't get stuck with the headache you're going to be.
