Message Name: And don't fill out those employment forms!

In Reply To: I would hate to think that I would have to lie to get a job. Im getting desperate but.... When I get a job I want to know that I got it because of me ,not something made up. It gives me pride to know I dont have to lie. If I cant get a job truthfully then either I didnt need that job or they dont need me.
Message: Also, to help enhance your job prospects, don't fill out those big employment forms that HR hands to you. You know how it works. You show up for your interview. And WHAM, fill this out. It contains a lot of stuff. They want to know every job and what your salary was. The salary information is a killer. Just putting that stuff down will either (1) get you screened out of consideration right away if it's too high; or (2) be used later to lowball your salary. My recommendation is to say you need to consult your records at home in order to fill the form out properly, and may you please fill it out and home and mail it back in? Of course HR will say yes, no problem. Then you will interview with the person who has the authority to actually hire you, and if he (or she) decides he likes you, then he's not going to care that you didn't fill out the form.
