Can volunteering help someone get a job?
I heard that volunteering can make a job candidate look well-rounded. Is this true?
I don't volunteer, but that doesn't mean that I am not well-rounded. I have a hobby that I love, but I can't include it on my resume because my hobby is dancing.
If I volunteered, I would have to take time off from work (and I get paid by the hour), or I would have to give up the hobby I love after work because it occupies a great deal of my time.
What type of volunteering can I do after work that won't occupy a lot of my time?
I contribut to charities throughout the year, but that doesn't count.
I don't mean to sound selfish, but I did not have the opportunity to participate in many extracurricular activities when I was a child, and I always wanted to dance. Now, I have the opportunity to follow my dream, and I love it. It keeps me healthy, and it drastically reduces my stress.
I thought about turning my hobby into a volunteer experience, but I am still a novice.
Does anyone have any suggestions? |

I think you're confusing a college application with a job application.
No one cares what you do in your spare time (as long as it doesn't involve anything illegal). They only care about how well they think you will do the job, how well they think you will suck up and be a good employee who doesn't make waves, what you look like.... but not about whether you volunteer at a soup kitchen
