In Reply To: I went to an 2nd interview two weeks ago, sent them a thank you letter and didnt hear from the company. I decided to send a follow up email. They sent me an email saying the the company was going through a restructuring and that the postion had been postponed....they even apologized for the delay. The said that as soon as the positon was opened they will call back. I believe that its true about the restructuring because the company is merging with another one...so what does this mean????
Message: This is happenning everywhere, in order to prevent layoffs, cutbacks are being made and hiring is being frozen. This isn't a good time to be looking for a job, but if you are, hold tight, and you will find a good position. Several companies are putting specific non-critical positions on hold. When the market picks up, which they are expecting in fall of 2002, things may easen up a bit. It's hard to justify a position when the work isn't there. For now, try applying at non-manufacturing and telecommunications companies. There are a few places where business booms despite market downturns, I would research those and look there if things are critical now.
