In Reply To: Obviously you are if it already worked, but that to me just emphasizes what the sales manager must have seen as features about you particularly suited to what he needed in a salesperson. I mean, this is how you were engaging in "selling" the most personal & valuable product you had to sell, right? Yourself? As most salespeople know that "selling yourself first" as a concept is most critical to being able to sell products, you gave the man your best example of what your capabilities and strategy would be in selling either one. As far as "extroverts" go, if you were not one and HE was not one, what on earth would *either* of you have been doing in sales in the first place?
Message: This was the best way for me to show my skills as a salesman. It worked, I got the job, and made a lot of $$$$. As a side note, I used this sales position to leapfrog into a MBA program and then went on to Wall Street (in slaes of course). Life is great and sales is the best position to be in if you know how to sell. You make shitloads of money and you basically do whatever you want as long as you are bringing in commissions. To the people who think that cold-calling for a job or walking in for a job is outrageous: You should probably not go into sales because you are probably a wimp. If you like big money and have brass balls, go into sales. You will love it, I know I do.
