In Reply To: Wow. You appear to have had a bad experience with human resources. But you should not let that impair your judgment or allow you to give very bad advice to someone. Why do companies so "no phone calls please"? Because if you don't, you will get so many phone calls, that answering those calls takes time away from filling the position and contacting those candidates that are truly qualified. Are there bad HR people? Of course. But those companies hired those people into those positions. So instead of blaming HR. Blame management for hiring weak HR. Eileen Levitt Vault Recruiting Expert
Message: Agreeing with Eileen's observation, and to add some "before & after" insight: It's been my experience that companies who don't intelligently or diligently look for the best HR people usually don't tend to treat their employees very well generally speaking. Out of a lack of social compassion or perhaps simply being "too dumb to know the value and difference", some companies look for only the cheapest HR people with the minimal skills required to keep them out of regulatory hot water. Only adding to these company's slippery-slope of eventual failure is their HR department's incompetence in seeking and responding to high quality candidates for their various positions. Thoese who do by some miracle get hired often soon find out that what reflected badly on the company from the outside is exponentially worse, from the INside...
