Background: I am in the process of relocating (August) and looking for a job in the new city while employed.
Question: According to strict business attire etiquette, skirts are preferable to pants (especially for an interview where the goal is to make a stellar impression). Is it a big deal if I prefer pants? Are skirts still preferred as professional attire or is that rule still valid?

In my opinion, pants suits just look better on women. I always choose pants suits over skirt suits because I feel very awkward in skirt suits. If you feel the same way, wear the pants because your confidence will be higher since you won't be worrying about how you look in the stupid skirt!
