First, realize that when you need a job, you have a problem, and all solutions to problems have price tags on them. Do not expect competent help to be free and do not expect anyone to do any work on your behalf unless you pay them.
Second, if you talk to ANY kind of career-related professional, make sure you have a very clear, unambiguous understanding of exactly WHAT they can/will do for YOU.
Do NOT take the risk of mass-mailing resumes in hopes one will get lucky and "stick".
Ask for references that you can TALK to prior to becoming a client.
Go to sites like ripoffreport dot com and see if there are any complaints about anyone that you consider retaining in your search.
One place you can find verifiably competent help is at careerkeysman at yahoo dot.
