unemployed rant (sorry) |

Here??s my story of life in the unemployment pages. I was temping for a major staffing company for the last 13 months or so. It worked well for me ?? I have a band and when we wanted to go on tour, the temping agency gave me leeway to do so. All the assignments they found for me were fine. Then they changed their policy so that an employee who had worked for the temp agency for more than 1,500 hours would be eligible for a certain amount of PTO rather than 1,800 which was the original minimum. The catch is none of the hours that any employee accumulated would be counted towards the 1,500 as of the enactment date for the new policy unless the employee had already worked more than 1,500 hours. So basically even if I gave 1,499 hours of my time to the agency, none of that 1,499 would matter because it was effectively erased from the record. I thought this was asinine and probably illegal so I left the temp agency. And since then, finding another job has been a process ?? an almost four weeks in running process. I??m getting pretty tired of sitting in front of my computer for most of the day, checking Craig??s List and the other listings. I??m sure I could look at this from a positive angle ?? more time to spend on music, time to figure out what I really want to do ?? but it??s becoming a bit desperate. What else can I do besides the usual send resumes to everyone, network like your life depends on it ideas?
