At this point there isn't much that you can do. Go to the EEOC for what? Their only interest and investigation is for age, sex, race, etc. discrimination. No, what that company did was manage you out the door. It's a slick way of getting you to quit and you have no recourse. I hear this happen all of the time. What's best is to keep your mouth shut and go see a lawyer and document everything and NEVER let someone from Human Resources or anyone for that matter know what your doing. In the future I suggest attaining and reading the book titled Corporate Confidential (www.corporateconfidential.com)to stay one step ahead of the corporate game. You see it might have been better that they fire you and had you had an attorney you probably could have sued and won and even collected unemployment too. Then if the bad company bad mouthed you to a future employer again you would have recourse. Visit the website above and read some of the forum postings and learn more.
As for trashing the company, I wouldn't necessarily bad mouth the company name but rather explain what happened in a civilized manner which can mean more than cursing or calling names. |

Hi RussRudy and TXMBAGUY,
It took me some time to step away and think about things. At first I was extremely angry because I felt betrayed. Now I'm focusing on moving forward. I realize that because I quit instead of letting them fire me, I relinquished most of the legal recourse I could have had. I was too proud to let them embarrass me further. My lesson has been learned, and while I would rather not have this happen again, I want to be better prepared in case it does. I have since been hired at another company, and am so much happier here than at that last gig. I see it as a classic case of one door closing so another one can open. You never know with the cutthroat corporate culture nowadays, but I sure hope this doesn't happen again.
Thanks.
