How to approach the new job search |

Hi:
Unfortunate circumstances created a gap in my CV and I would appreciate advice on how to deal with it.
Basically I got my BA in CS in 2002. After graduating I moved to a re-emerging market in East Europe to work a government advisory body on project that deal with ICT policy and e-gov development. I worked there for a 1 1/2 when I switched to work on an E&Y consultancy project for 5 months.
In fall 2004, I went to London to do a MS in MIS, graduating the top of my class in Sept 2005. I completed my coursework in Sept, 2005; however the program officially ended in Dec, 2005.
Upon graduating, I returned to the US in Nov, 2005 to look for employment in consultancy. I found at the end of April for a small company near Boston, MA. However, due to company restructuring I was laid off by the end of July, 2006.
Spending only 3-4 months at this firm I do not think its sufficient time to put it on my CV. On the other hand, I would have a year+ gap on my resume with my experiences.
I am 26 and am interested in 1) consulting, 2) int. development & emerging markets. My job hunt is focused on these two areas.
I am a bit nervous because of my gap, and because people in consulting at my age are likely to have far more experience.
Questions:
1) Is it worth putting the 3 month experience with the firm I was laid off with on my CV? I do not have any good contacts at that company because the entire department was shut down that could vouch for me.
2) If I indeed have this gap, what would be a good way of addressing it when hunting for employment?
Any feedback, general or specific is appreciated.
Kind regards
