Message Name: Who is right for nursing?

In Reply To: There are an increasing number of men entering the nursing profession each year so there would be nothing "abnormal" about your nephew studying nursing in college. Whether or not this career would be the right fit for him, however would be a better question. Nurses have a very high level of professional responsibility for patient care, significant physical demand throughout the day (e.g. lifting, and carrying patients) and near constant patient contact, not all of which is pleasant. Not all nurses find that these demands are worth the fairly sizeable paycheck, which is why nurses continue to be in short supply. If your nephew does not possess a fairly aggressive personality, he may also want to look closely before he leaps into nursing.
Message: Thank you very much for your reply. Would you clarify a bit more the last sentence of your comment as to the "right personality" for nursing? Do you think being-not-fairly-aggresive is a good or bad thing for the profession, and why? My nephew does need to assess his choice from all angles. Thank you again.
