I share similiar concerns. I already have an MA with a minor in business. Do I really need to go back to school for an MBA if I want to get into the consulting field? |

The consulting is a very wide-open area. You would want to ask what specialties do I bring?
The typical, elite (i.e. top)MBAs have limited opportunities to get into the premier management consulting firms such as Bain, McKinsey, etc.
The next tier would be acounting firms (big 4?). Here the CPA or IT background are essential.
Then there are whole other areas. Companies will not hire a person unless one has specific expertise.
It seems that, from what you stated, getting an MBA from the business school would be a very good idea.
