i think companies are willing to overlook youthful indiscretions but the fact this occurred less than a month ago really does not bode well for your character and this could hurt you greatly. there is a chance you can leave it off your application altogether and hope they will not do a background check. but this too might come back to bite you in the ass. |

I am by no means trying to make excuses and yes, I do know that what I did was very wrong. I have never done anything like that before. I was going through a tremendous amount of stress over some marital problems and I acted out by shoplifting. Since this has happened, I have spoken to a counselor and gotten help for my marital problems and dealing with stress better.
I have close to 10 years of experience in IT working for very large/well-known companies.
I posted this message because I wanted to find out if this mistake will affect any future employment opportunities in the same types of companies.
