I plead guilty to a petty disorderly persons offense (misdemeanor) for shoplifting less than $100 worth of clothing. I have an excellent FICO score and no other convictions or trouble with the law.
The incident happened recently, about one month ago.
Will a top firm like CSFB still consider me for employment in their IT dept?

i think companies are willing to overlook youthful indiscretions but the fact this occurred less than a month ago really does not bode well for your character and this could hurt you greatly. there is a chance you can leave it off your application altogether and hope they will not do a background check. but this too might come back to bite you in the ass.
