I'm wondering if any of you have had positive experiences with career placement firms? Basically they help find your "best fit," help you search the unlisted job market, then assist with salary and benefits package negotiation. Sounds like a ripoff to me but the particular company I talked with has placed 20K people and claims they increase salary packages 20% over the initial offer on average. |

If the placement agency requires money up front, then its a rip off. Legit companies take all their fees from employers. I am sure someone somewhere paid upfron and got a better job, but that has go to be rare.
