It's tough to get hired at a big finacial firm in NYC. The really good ones really want an MBA graduate. I have a friend who graduated from North Carolina and went up to a career fair at NYU and got a interview offer with a couple of financial firms. It's going to be tough breaking into a market where you don't really know someone...the best way is always getting an in by knowing someone who can help getting through the HR depts. Another thing to consider is working for a company locally in the state that has a strong coporate presence in NYC and by moving up the chain, you'll have opportunities soon in NYC. Remember, you're just graduating...let things happen and be willing to do something that will get you to where you want to go.
Oh, and if you're interested in the energy industry and moving to Texas...our company is hiring (had to throw that in there). |
