Hi BGS! I'm a Lieutenant in the Navy stationed in Naples, Italy. I went through the Nuclear Power pipeline and served onboard a submarine out of Pearl Harbor. I loved living in Hawaii (for obvious reasons) but serving onboard a sub as a Junior Officer (JO) is extremely gruelling, to say the least. A lot is expected of you, and the learning curve is very steep. However, the opportunity to lead a division of 8-15 guys right out of the gates is a great opportunity. And leadership is the commodity you really take with you from this business. The pay is also quite good for a recent college grad, especially if you go to HI. I'm getting ready to get out and pursue an MBA myself, the boat burned me out pretty good. But, I learned a lot. Not just technical knowledge, but a lot about people as well. Good luck to you in your quest for employment! |

Thanks for the information and for your service to your country! I was wondering, will the Navy pay for an officer's MBA while he is still on active duty? I was also wondering what about the boat burned you out. If I join, I am looking at a four year service commitment, so I am looking for as much info as I can so I can make the best choice. Thanks, Lieutenant!
