Can't hurt but don't expect much from them |

Last December I accepted a job offer and later retracted because my current employer presented me an option that made me changed my mind. This was not about money, it was about the work experience.
I currently work as an HR Generalist ant the new job offered me an opportuity to work in compensation and benefits, which I really enjoy.
After a few months there had been no changes in my work activities (as promised) and I feel like calling back the company to let them know that if that position ever gets available, I would like to have the opportunity.
The thing is that I am not sure if this is right, but on the other hand I feel like I missed an opportunity to work in what I really enjoy. |

Chalk this one up to experience. Never stay with an employer when they counter-offer after you have turned in your notice for another opportunity. Unfortunately, I have yet to meet someone in the situation when it did work out. It is always the same old place afterwards. Nothing has changed, except you are making more money. Soon all the reasons why you should have left creep back and you still want to leave.
Second, once a company has received the bad news after they had the good news of your acceptance, you are "toast." You would have to be an extra special and exceptional candidate for them to reconsider you after your indecisiveness.
Go ahead and try, it can't hurt. But keep looking for another opportunity in the mean time. Also, keep trying to learn and develop while you are working.
