I currently work in the commercial bank of a BB firm here in Chicago and would like to make a change into Equity Research. Buy-side would be nice, but realistically sell-side is more probable and I think that'd be a better place to start anyway.
... I'm trained in credit through the bank's analyst program, and I'm taking my CFA level 2 in June. Yes I know about CFA career resources.
Does anyone know for sure of any top tier research banks (LB,ML. MS. BS, Citi, JPM, etc.) that have equity research departments here in Chicago? "Life" is going to prevent me from moving to NY.
Aside from BB banks, I know Morningstar has a big presence here as do William Blair, Raymond James, and Robert Baird. I assume ABN Amro (LaSalle) has their U.S. based research here.
Any other medium or large companies have equity research departments here? Again this would be for someone who's never had a research position before so I'd be willing to start at the bottom, even in an "analyst" program or something like that.
