I would say from the tone of the reply, Fresno State is open-minded so long as you agree with their brand of open-mindedness. It seems that a person made a decison that disagreed with The_Professor and chose a course of action contrary to what The_Professor would choose to do and as such The_Professor resorted to a impune the parenting skills of a person he never met. Does not sound very open-minded to me. |

First of all, I cannot claim to represent any official stance of my institution, I am expressing personal opinions here.
But more importantly, of course I am intolerant of and not open-minded about the initial response to my posting. The notion that someone would choose to take that course of action is not worthy of my toleration, and I am always intolerant of such lunatics. Obviously I neither need nor want to meet such a person in order to form a negative opinion about them, they are giving me all the negativity I could ever ask for without any help from me. I posted a rather innocuous opinion deriding a ridiculous cultural tradition, and for my trouble I was subjected to a very personal attack. Expressing an opinion about a cultural practice does not warrant a personal attack, ever, and on this I am most certainly narrow-minded. That's because I know right from wrong.
