I work at Fresno State, where open-mindedness and the possibility of disagreement leading to debate is highly valued. If you won't send your child here because you disagree with me, then I can only imagine what narrow-minded children you might have raised. I guess that makes me happy that I'll never meet them? Sort of a shame.

I would say from the tone of the reply, Fresno State is open-minded so long as you agree with their brand of open-mindedness. It seems that a person made a decison that disagreed with The_Professor and chose a course of action contrary to what The_Professor would choose to do and as such The_Professor resorted to a impune the parenting skills of a person he never met. Does not sound very open-minded to me.
