I am very interested in returning to the consulting world having spent the last 5 years in various roles in the private sector. I have 6 years of post MBA experience in a variety of roles- consulting, venture capital, busiess development and merchandising. I fear that my largest obstacle will be the perception of job hopping in somewhat disparate fields and roles. Iknow that I have legitimate skills, both hard and soft and that I can add value to clients if given the chance. The challenge may be getting in front of hiring decision makers. I have a few questions and I thank you in advance for your assistance.
How would you suggest I go about getting in front of hiring managers? I know that online submissions are preferred by recruiters but I also know it is easy to get lost in the shuffle. Any thoughts?
Also, at what level might I expect to be hired if at all? To frame this question contextually, you can speak from the perspective of Big 4 firms, strategy boutiques and general management consulting firms.
Thanks in advance for the help.
