In Reply To: Remember the "He's just not that into you" episode? I tend to apply the same theory to job search. If you knocked their sox off, they'd be making you an offer. They're still "dating" and probably infatuated with someone else at this point. If they do get back to you I'd make them twist in the wind and play hard to get. Tell them you have an exploding offer and they have to overnight you an offer NOW or you will take the other one.
Message: this guy isn't going to get an offer, let alone get hired. don't listen to him. they can see right through "exploding offers." this is not amateur night at the improv. they are testing your follow up, cold call and sales skills. how badly do you want the job? Tell them so!! Call them up and tell them you want the job and you are the best candidate for the position. Ask to take him/her to lunch to learn more about the industry and follow up on matters discussed during your interview. Send them notes with your resume and pic saying something like "forget me not I want the job!" (that one actually worked... just not for me :) Point is, if you are too shy or too arogant to sell yourself, you won't be able to do right by their product in their mind. Dating ain't hiring. Leave the ego in your briefcase and place a pleasant, well rehearsed, confident "sales" call today!!
