graduated in December with my JD and MBA, and have been looking for work since with little luck.
I have several years experience while in school, but they are mostly of an entrepreneurial nature, and very little to do with law. I'm looking in both legal and business fields, though I'd like to do a little of both. My experience hasn't seemed to translate particularly well into the HR departments search criteria.
I'd like to stay in the Northwest, but I'm willing to relocate if absolutely necessary.
Any suggestions? I'm far past frustration and would appreciate any help. |

Hi,
I'm stunned. You have KICK ASS credentials!!! I am searching for an internship so that I can finish my MPH. In the process I've done consulting projects and applied and been rejected from B School. No problem though. Here's what I learned so far:
1. Do stuff you always wanted to do while confined to libraries. For me this involved becoming a bartender. I now make a killer martini AND have scored a part-time job at a wine bar where I hope to seduce an exec into a job in pharma or biotech.
2. Attend AS MANY association meetings/conferences/events as you can possibly stand. In San Francisco this means I have attended as many conferences on Biotech/Pharma/International Health/World Politics...etc. as I can attend... this has led to people to people introductions, etc. and I'm positive this will lead to a full-time position once I'm done with my thesis.
3. I don't really know what you are passionate about, but I will tell you that when I took a Marketing Class at the B School while in Grad School-- companies were very keen on hiring MD/MBA's and JD/MBA's. IF you are into biotech/pharma stuff you should definately move to either New Jersey or Silicon Valley.
I hope this helps!
hugs,
