I had similar issues after completing my MA in international affairs. I was in school during 02-04, and my best opportunities were working with small startups. I spent a year afterward attempting to raise venture capital for my own tech startup while doing miscellaneous consulting projects on the side. It was an absolute blast, and I performed very high level functions that most corporate employees never handle, but external circumstances interfered, and the project had to be shelved. Since then the economy has recovered, but I no longer fit the mold at traditional companies. It is intensely frustrating; I thought my entrepreneurial experience would make me MORE attractive to companies, not less.
