In Reply To: Thank you for the feedback, Penzilla. The career fair at my school is pretty lame (mostly cold-call sales and marketing type gigs), but I'll try other schools'. I hadn't thought about the ones put on by newspapers, so thanks again for the advice.
Message: Regardless of what you've studied, what you know, what you have or have not experienced, what you'd like to accomplish, etc ... when you are FIRST looking for a job, you ARE a salesman. (Once you have a number of years of experience and have developed an expertise, this is less the case ... thank god) In sales, it's a numbers game. If you are experiencing difficulty either you're doing a poor job of selling or your not giving yourself enough opportunities. Entering the job market can be very intimidating, but understand that everyone was once there. Get on the phone, call around .. sell. Develop a script, ... "I'd like to talk to the managing director of equity research ...", etc ... DIG!
