I have a job offer but have reservations about accepting.
The whole recruiting process took several months, with the company aware that I was unemployed during this time. At each step of the way, it seemed like an offer was just around the corner and yet a few more weeks would pass by before getting to the next step.
Although I knew the company was very interested in my candidacy, because I did not have an offer, I also was not in a position to ask questions that would jeopardize my chances of getting that offer. At the same time, because it seeemed that they were serious and I thought an offer would soon follow, it didn't seem right to continue looking for another position and I had turned down other opportunities.
At this point, I realize this job many not be a good fit (after getting the answers to my questions). Because the whole process has taken so long, there is a longer gap in my resume and I don't really have other prospects and would have to start looking again, not to mention having my references checked again. Also, because of the lengthy recruitment, the company may also expect me to accept.
Any advice would be appreciated. |

My best advice is to try to negotiate what you want with the company.
Try not to lose the investment in time that you put into this interview process.
If you have to move on to other opportunities, start fresh and don't worry about your references being called again. It's all part of the deal.
