Hi All,
I am in bay area right now and I am very confused regarding my career. To start with I have a master's degree in mechanical engineering (2004). I have 2 years working experience as a mechanical engineer(2002-2004). Then I took 1 year break and I am on H-4 (dependent visa). I want to get into a job now, but i am confused between software and mechanical fields. Software jobs seem plenty in bay area but with no experience and no degree, I am worried about my chances. Mechanical jobs seem few but since I have a degree i am thinking that might be good but my interest is shifting to software always. Also, since I have my family in bay area, i dont want to take chances and move away from family. I am planning to go college for some software courses this spring, but will it help? Is software a better choice or should i stck with mechanical? Is there any chance of getting a job right here in software just by doing some courses? I apologize for the long message but I am so conused and need help. Thanks in advance.
