In Reply To: Recently I received a gift from an employee at work for valentines day because she was my secret valentine. The item I recieved was one that we sell at my job. As I was leaving one of my managers came up to me and asked if I had a receipt to go with my package. I told her no, that it was a gift, and that I was on my way home. She told me that I should not be allowed to leave because I had no proof that I had purchased the item. A few days later, I went into work after my scheduled days off, and my other manager told me they didn't need me to work that day. The next day, I recieved a call saying that they "didn't need me to work until further notice." That was a week ago. Then today I heard that I was being fired for theft from one of my fellow employees. What should I do? I don't think my secret valentine has the reciept anymore, and I don't want either one of us to get terminated. I was still under my company's 30 day probationary hire period at the time this happened, and am the sole provider for my family. PLEASE HELP ME!
Message: I think it would be wise for you to ask the secret pal to come forward and tell management that she gave it to you as a gift. Then it is up to them to go from there. If you are not able to get them to see it your way, you might as well spend your energies looking for another job instead of wasting time on people who do not trust their employees. Best of luck
