I realize that every firm and position is different requiring various levels of background checks.
What common things are looked at credit history academic crimial?
How deeply are these looked at?
At what point do they do a check? Are there any legal issues / precidents that they must adhere to?
Has anyone done a check on themselves and found some inaccuraies? what did you do about it?

If you have any ghosts in the closet you need to let the employer know. They do check everything now and if they don't and find something out later you may be terminated.
