I'm looking for some advise about using a marketing/market research background to get into the finance world in the Los Angeles market. I have recently worked for an investment bank doing some business development, but am looking for a new opportunity at the moment. |

After your stint in an I-bank plus the research background, you should be able to use the experience to try going into equity research. There's financial modelling, industries research and talking to management. Eventually, you have to choose companies within a particular industry to follow, so if you have an extensive knowledge in one, play it up.
I used to work part-time in a research firm in LA. I've seen the analysts come from different background.
